Buzz and I met Rick and Lisa at the Quarry on Saturday the 5Th a little after 10 for us. Lisa and Rick were already in the water...I had a little hissy fit about a big bug in my gear...I hate bugs! so we cleaned out the gear..checking for bugs...and put it back and went to the quarry. Rick laughed at me...but I really really hate them! I would crawl over snakes to get away from bugs! NO JOKE!!
So the fist dive was good..we hit the first themacline at 15 ft. brrr  about 67.. I had on a long sleeve rash guard and a shorty, still kinda concerned about hives..so if it was the neoprene at least it would be a shorty...anyway..then we hit the second thermocline at around 20 ft. 61 degrees and that was as cold as we cold go in shorties. and gloves boots and no hoods.
BUT what we did find out was that I am NOT allergic to neoprene!!! yay!!! So now it is just a matter of making sure my suits are cleaned!!

Second dive: we went to the truck, round tube looking thing, boat..and then Rick and I heard some one shaking a noise maker constantly...concerned us...we had enough air so we went to check it out....with out getting too close...we are not rescue trained. Water was murky due to Blue water had a class there.  Could not find them. came back to dock..told Britt. He did some checking. I guess we did all we could do.

Poor little bugs my butt! yuck! hehehe..
We bought a gigantic tub...cleaned the gear..and it is stored in the tub after having time to dry completly. Now we gotta find a place to put the tub! and when I say tub, this bin is about the size of a tub!  Cheesy It bairly fits in the car! But when we take it to the quarry it will work great!..Hey...Britt needs a great big clean tub with clean water in it so folks can clean their gear. But that would coast a big bundle I guess. Oh well?

Goes back to the wish list again...if I were to ever win that big big lottery..maybe buy that thing out right and really fix it up..he he.  Grin
Of course travel between there, the Keys and the Islands  Grin Grin Grin

yes poor little ole key largo bugssssssss.  The dunk tub would be nice but getting clean water in it each day would be tough to do. On the lottery, lets make a pact, if  you win you take us and if we win we take yall!

Sean (my son) had mentioned something about wanting to start a gear cleaning service at the quarry.

Should I get him the stuff to do it or just get a cleaning tub and make it self serve?

The self serve tub would be a great idea.  When we do boat dives in the keys they have a large rinse tank for us to rinse off our equipment.  I think the problem would be changing out the water each day.  Also if he has an idea about doing a gear cleaning service, and it makes yall some extra bucks, I am all for that also.

I think both if it is affordable for you guys and let the folks who want to use the service use it and the folks who want the self serve service use it. I have very very sensitive skin...to the point that I break out in hives if my gear is not cleaned pretty soon after wearing it. So a tub on property would help me out a great deal. It also makes a difference on how often I might be able to come if I know I can clean my gear better, seriously. Another idea is a hose to have to rinse off with. Just a thought.  Grin
Thanks Britt!!!

ps: I like the scuba shack food! great idea!

Hey Britt,
Just an idea that popped in my pea-brain...Do you guys have a storage facility that you can rent "lockers" for the lack of a better term..for folks who do not have a great place to store their gear...like Buzz and I..we do not have a garage. So we have to use a closet in the house. temp controlled is a must for my skin, my Dr. says...to keep the mold down. Do y'all have a place in the back of your building that y'all can rent out monthly in cubicles for your clientele. Again just a thought for you to generate some small revenue and give us some space at home. A woman and time on her hands is dangerous.....hehehe

Not yet, but I will start working on it. My plan is to set up a locker system for storage and yearly maintenance will be included. I have been looking for lockers for the last few months but no schools with large lockers have closed. I seen this being done in a different state at a store and I kind of liked the idea.

You could actually build them out of wood cabinets or even heavy plastic with holes in them for drainage. Just have a good door system with the latch that you would offer the clientele the deal to bring their "own lock" to lock up their gear. Also, Buzz can write up your contract for you to protect you and make it very clear to your clientele what they are doing. So no one could go in and accuse you or anyone else of stealing their gear while it was there. He has done it for a few other kinds of shops.
